A recent photo of some members of our choir. They enjoy a wide repertoire of music encompassing church music of all styles from plainsong and polyphony to

the well known composers of recent centuries including gospel, taize and worship music for today’s Church. Tewkesbury, Southwell Minster, New College Oxford and St.Peter’s Ghent are some of the places where they have given concerts and sang services.

There has been a long musical tradition at St.Mary’s as these two photographs and the linked article show.

The first was taken in 1951. The Ladies of the choir (seen in the gallery) were soon to have to make way for the new organ. This has now been removed to enable new office space.

This is of the choir and clergy taken in 1907. In the original photograph the posters on the wall behind can be clearly seen as promoting the ‘Malitia’. Now there can be seen monuments for those who fell in the war.
It will also link you to an amusing and picturesque account in Sevenoaks in July 1897!
