Choir Outings. - On Saturday, July 10th, the Adult members of the choir spent a delightful afternoon in the Country. Though several were unable to be present, a party of members, wives, and friends, nearly a score, including the Vicar and Mrs. Bickersteth, both the Churchwardens, Mrs. King, Mr. And Mrs. Leeds, left Hither Green by the 2.1 train. Some 3 or 4 were found vigorous enough to cycle the 20 miles between here and Sevenoaks, and, in spite of the scorching mid-day sun (perhaps a not wholly unsuitable accompaniment to rapid motion on a cycle), they succeeded in putting to shame the S.E.R.’S efforts to effect a punctual rendezvous at 2.45 at Sevenoaks. Here a conveyance was waiting to

convey those who preferred to drive round Knowle Park to the rural Inn at Stone Street. The majority, however, walked, and by so doing enjoyed a lovely walk through the Park and Close, past the old house.
After Tea at the “Rose and Crown,” a move was made to the fine old moated building known as “Ightham Mote.” It is impossible here to describe the charms of the old house and its surroundings - they must be
seen in the glowing light of a summer sunset to be properly appreciated.

The able direction of those who had “been there before, and knew the way,” succeeded in losing themselves in some of the most ideal sylvan glades that even those well acquainted with the beauties of our “Garden of England” had ever been fortunate enough to discover. However, after wandering vaguely on for some distance, the pedestrians found themselves once more in Knowle Park.
Half-an-hour’s walk through the Park, pondering almost sadly on the beauties left behind; half-an-hour’s wait, pondering quite sadly upon the variation between what the S.E.R. Says it’s going to do and what the S.E.R. does, and then for a climax to a delightful day, a welcome back to Lewisham by a gallant display of bunting all the way down Hither Green Lane.
