

Free Choir Concert Friday 24th June 7.30pm Helgeland Kammerkor, a regional chamber choir from northern Norway, was founded in 1992. The choir attracts ambitious singers from a wide area, and is recognised as an elite choir, in demand for festivals and high-profile cultural arrangements. The choir currently has around 30 members.
Chris Eva, their director was a musician and organist at St.Mary's for many years.
Helgeland Kammerkor has performed a wide range of sacred music, from Handel and Vivaldi to Copland and Duke Ellington, as well as giving the first performances of significant new choral works by Norwegian composers. The choir's repertoire also includes songs from Scandinavia, and folk music from Ireland, Britain and Norway. The choir has recorded a CD of folk music from the region of Norway known as Helgeland. A new CD recording is planned for 2012 to celebrate the choir's 20th anniversary.
